Needs of international students in FE

The Prepare for Success website for international students coming to study in the UK and their receiving institutions, is entering its 4th phase of development - one aim of this phase is to create a web page specifically addressing the needs of international students preparing to enter FE.  If you are in FE and work with international students please help us by  completing the survey and telling us about your international students' needs:…See More

It has been a while - project dissemination

I thought I would drop in quickly to say that as part of the Million+ JISC work I will be presenting on a past Work Based Learning Project in Leeds on the 22nd October. The WBL Project (http://www.projects.staffs.ac.uk/surfwbl/) was focused on developing learning resources in a number of different formats to support not just the learner but tutors and mentors. The materials are all available in JORUM.

Passing on the message

Well hopefully the rest of the project team will now join this community after mentioning it at todays project meeting - they certainly have raised some issues that could be discussed in the forums here, including how FE's manage different relationships - how do they cope with different awards validated by different HE institutions and what support should be in place for those learners? This would have been an interesting one to raise at yesterdays JISC meeting in Birmingham.

A blog? Here?

Yes, why not.

Firstly, anyone who wants to ask me stuff (about JISC things mainly, but I'm an approachable guy so if you need advice with your love-life or whatever, carry on - you fools...) can do so. In fact, if you can, ask here because then everyone can read it.

Secondly, today I am mostly putting things on the JISC CMS. Is it just me or are CMS three of the most depressing letters in modern technology? Some how, the bright, uncluttered punk-rock FTP connection to… Continue

UsPaCe Blog

Like others I've created a feed to the UsPaCe blog from My Page.

If I could find another widget/gadget I'd add a link to my eLearning Ranting Blog as well. Which will have to updated with a Blog about yet another bloody profile to fill out. Maybe.

SURF WBL Project Outputs

It's always the same, you think something is dead easy to do something and then you try and explain it to others and realise that it's the hardest thing to understand. I am in the process of re-writing the SURF WBL leaflets as the project Evaluation site is now used for completely different purposes now and this is not clear from the text on the site or the leaflet.

For those of you interested in the SURF WBL project (part of X4L Phase 2) the following sites are in…
