Yuk, the sound of my own voice, and worse, that face! But still, I find video on the web fascinating for a number of reasons.
Text overkill - I like a bit of variety! Audio and images in amongst the text.
Identity - we talk a lot of about online identity and video blogs are a way to make more personal connections.
Skim reading - or NOT skim reading actually. Have you ever sent someone (usually a manager!) a text email, carefully worded with appropriate detail, only to get a reply back that makes it clear he/she never read it properly. No way to skim read a video, yet.
Communication - we meet f2f (partly) because we want to talk to each other and maybe find ourselves saying different things than text/email. OK, a video blog is talking AT you, but you could respond with video.
